INTRODUCTION TO THE GARDENS AND THE ESTATE
The Rustenberg Estate is home to many beautiful sights, both natural and man-made, incredible fauna and flora, and a multitude of activities, not just vineyards and winemaking!
The estate is home to two spectacular garden experiences – the public Schoongezicht Garden, and the private Rustenberg Garden. The historical werf area is penned in by a number of traditional Cape Dutch buildings, dating back as far as the 1800s. The beautiful cattle roam the fields along the roads and next to the tasting centre, grazing as our natural lawnmowers. There are a number of beehives scattered around the Estate and up into the foothills of the mountain. We also have an avid passion for conservation, from our “wildflower garden” area which hosts a multitude of fynbos and indigenous plant species, to our lovely wild animals roaming free on the farm and all over the Simonsberg Mountain. The Estate is also host to a number of film and advertising shoots every year, resulting in some interesting and beautiful setups.
